Four Reasons Canada’s Healthcare System Is Better

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

canadian pharmacies1 300x203 Four Reasons Canadas Healthcare System Is BetterIt’s so frustrating to hear such nonsense in the U.S. media every day about the “evils” of the Canadian healthcare system. The fact is, according to the World Health Organization, Canada’s system is far less expensive than that of the United States — and produces far better outcomes for patients.

Canada’s National Post recently explained some of the reasons why this is the case. Here’s a paraphrased summary of the data:

1. Drugs are cheaper. In the United States, $728 per capita is spent each year on drugs, while in Canada it is $509. Brand-name drugs cost about 40 percent less in Canada on average. The differential is because Canadian provinces buy drugs through a centralized system and get volume discounts.

2. Doctors’ fees are reasonable. U.S. physicians make about twice as much as Canadian doctors, according to health data collected by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

3. Hospitals are not run for profit. Hospitals in Canada are not-for-profit entities run on behalf of patients and governed by regional health boards, which include physicians and other health professionals.

4. Administrative waste is far less. Administrative costs for healthcare in the United States are double those of Canada, according to the New England Journal of Medicine. Additionally, U.S. healthcare companies spend billions of dollars on marketing every year.

The Ultimate Proof That Licensed Canadian Pharmacies Are Safe

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

canadian drugstoreFor some time now, Big Pharma and the front groups that represent it in return for cash, including the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, have been spreading disinformation about Canadian pharmacies. They’ve been trying to link legitimate drugstores, licensed and in good standing with the Canadian government, with illegal rogue pharmacy operations that claim to be Canadian, but which are actually based in places like Russia.

The purpose of Canadian Online Pharmacies is to help you separate the legitimate, licensed pharmacies — no different from your own corner drugstore, except for the prices — from those scary rogue operations. Only licensed Canadian pharmacies are permitted into our network.

Unfortunately, because of the scare tactics of Big Pharma and its PR machine, some prospective customers contact us, asking if even licensed Canadian pharmacies are really safe.

To answer that, here are excerpts from an article that Big Pharma simply can’t refute. Facts, after all, are facts:

U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials can’t name a single American who’s been injured or killed by drugs bought from licensed Canadian pharmacies. [And] Health Canada, which regulates Canada’s prescription industry, “does not have any information that would indicate that any Americans have become ill or have died as a result of taking prescription medications purchased from Canada,” said Jirina Vlk, a spokeswoman…

A recent report by the Congressional Research Service supports the safety of drugs from Canada. It found that medications manufactured and distributed in Canada meet or surpass quality control guidelines set by the FDA. The service is the Library of Congress source that Congress turns to for objective information.

“There’s no question in my mind that the (FDA) is too dependent on the pharmaceutical industry for their attitudes and decision-making,” said Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind., who [has studied] the Canadian drug issue. “I had four hearings and I asked (the FDA) to give me examples where people have been damaged by Canadian pharmaceuticals and reimportation, and he couldn’t even give me one, not one.”

For all the hyperventilating of Big Pharma as it tries to protect its outrageous profits, the drug industry can’t show one person harmed by a legitimate Canadian drugstore.

That’s the ultimate proof that licensed Canadian pharmacies, like those in the Canadian Online Pharmacies network, are safe.

Spammers Tainting the Good Name of Canadian Pharmacies

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

canadian pharmacy spamThe Ottawa Citizen recently published an article headlined, “Online pharma spammers capitalize on Canada’s health-care reputation” — pointing out how cyber-criminals, mostly based in Russia, are damaging Canada’s good name by spamming inboxes with sales pitches from so-called “Canadian pharmacies.”

John Praed, a Virginia lawyer investigating online pharmacies, told the newspaper:

Almost every illegal pharmacy that’s out there invokes Canada. This will taint Canada.

Approximately 200 legitimate online pharmacies are based in Canada and licensed by their provincial governments to sell medications internationally. These include the pharmacies in the Canadian Online Pharmacies database.

Unfortunately, the constant flood of spam e-mails is confusing U.S. consumers — and making them afraid of all Canadian pharmacies.

Tim Smith of the Canadian International Pharmacy Association told the Citizen:

It’s our reputation, our very strong reputation that stands to be affected by the rogue operators. We’re committed to safety, and we don’t want anybody around that can tarnish our reputation by some underhanded practice.

Much of the damage can be traced to a single criminal organization in Russia that calls itself “Canadian Pharmacy.” The group, which operates thousands of sites, sends as many as 60 billion spam e-mails per day.

According to Pat Peterson, a security researcher for Cisco Systems:

There’s no doctors, no prescriptions, no consultations, no buildings, but they will ship you medications.

Some rogue pharmacies add metal shavings and other contaminants to the drugs they send out. In 2007, one Canadian woman was killed by pills laced with poisonous metals. The woman’s payments were traced to a Russian bank — but that’s where the investigation stalled.

Quick Peek: Three Members of the Canadian Online Pharmacies Network

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

canada drugs pharmacists and team We at Canadian Online Pharmacies have worked hard, over a period of several years, to separate the wheat from the chaff among Internet pharmacies.

We can tell you from our research, as well as our personal experiences, that 90 percent of online pharmacies are scam artists — claiming to be licensed in Canada, but actually operating out of Third World slums. A discount pharmacy can easily masquerade as a legitimate one, simply by slapping a fake government seal on its home page.

That’s why the service we offer is so important. We share with you the hidden jewels of the online pharmacy world — Canadian pharmacies that are safe, licensed and amazingly inexpensive.

There are currently more than 25 pharmacies in the Canadian Online Pharmacies network. We have complete inventories of their medications in our price-comparison search engine, which allows you to always get the best price on any medication.

If you’re considering becoming a Canadian Online Pharmacies member, we thought you might find it valuable to have a sneak peek at a few of the pharmacies in our system. This way, you can see the kind of businesses we work with.

Here are mini-profiles of three of our member pharmacies:

1. CanadaDrugs.com. Since opening in April 2001, Winnipeg-based CanadaDrugs.com has earned many pharmacy accreditations and has become one of the most trusted Canadian pharmacies on the Internet. With more than 250 full-time staff, and more than 3,000 prescriptions filled every day and shipped safely to patients internationally, you can trust CanadaDrugs.com with your prescription drug purchase.

2. DoctorSolve. DoctorSolve, based in British Columbia, is a respected online pharmacy intermediary. Established in 1999, DoctorSolve has earned the trust of more than 200,000 customers with reliable, friendly service and by implementing the highest quality controls possible.

3. AdvCare Pharmacy. AdvCare is the “neighborhood pharmacy at your fingertips,” staffed by a team of dedicated, Ontario-licensed pharmacists. AdvCare has an inventory of more than 20,000 prescription drugs and serves residents of both Canada and the United States. You can visit this friendly corner pharmacy in person at its home in Markham, Ontario.

Remember, these are just a few of the more than two dozen pharmacies in our system. So what are you waiting for? Get started today!
